In a few weeks’ time, together with a brilliant, brilliant data scientist, we’re launching a project which has the potential to improve decision-making throughout the UK. In fact, this tool could be used in any modern democracy. I just can’t wait to show it to you.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in many impactful service-based organisations, typically helping one person at a time. However, technological tools offer the ability to be rapidly copied, pasted, and scaled across nations.
For too long now, the brightest minds have hooked us onto the dumpster fire that is social media. Through clever algorithms and dopamine hits, big tech has fostered polarisation where previously there was none. The result? A coarsening of our discourse, sowing distrust of our neighbours, and creating a general sense of insecurity.
But it didn’t need to be that way. Technology, when used correctly, can unite us, enrich political discourse, and elevate decision-making processes. As I learned during my time campaigning in the ethical tourism sector, “A fire can cook your food and warm your house, but if used incorrectly, it can also burn your home down.”
Our upcoming tool aims to do just that—harness technology’s power to foster informed debate, bridge divides, and build trust within communities. It’s a challenge, but the potential rewards are immense.
This project represents more than just a new tool; it’s a new approach to decision-making that prioritises collective understanding over division. Stay tuned as we prepare to launch a tool that could reshape how we engage with and influence our world.
The burden is immense. Watch this space.
